Past Projects
Sites Reservoir Project
AAX provided engineering and design services on the
Sites Reservoir Project, a planned new $3.5 billion water
supply project in northern California. The Sites Reservoir
Project is located approximately 10 miles west of Maxwell,
Calif., in Glenn and Colusa Counties. The project includes
a new 1.5 million-acre-feet reservoir, to be situated within
the eastern margin of the Coast Ranges, along the west
side of the Sacramento Valley. Sites Reservoir will store
stormwater flows from the Sacramento River for
subsequent release in dry and critical years for environmental use and water supply for agriculture and municipalities throughout California.
AAX, provided Geo-Civil, Geology, and Geotechnical support for configuration and design of the two regulating reservoirs and their in-let out let structures. AAX assisted with design development, evaluation, and design for the reservoirs, including:
• Led Geological analysis and design.
• Conceptualized, created, evaluated, and selected layouts and configuration alternatives.
• Conducted geological analysis and design for the two reservoirs and appurtenant features.
• Created grading plans, creating design alternatives, conducting constructability reviews.
• Preparing design documentation, report content, and quality reviews.
• Provided Senior Civil Review
The Capitol Annex Project
AAX provided Surveying support for a planned new
$1.2 billion Capitol Annex Building in Sacramento, CA.
The Capitol Annex Project aims to address several
issues with the current State Capitol Annex building in
California.
The project involves three primary components:
1. Reconstruction of the existing Annex with an
approximately 525,000-square-foot building.
2. Construction of a new underground parking garage
under the 12th Street walkway to the east of the Annex.
3. Construction of a new underground visitor/welcome center on the west side of the Historic Capitol.
AAX, was responsible for surveying and construction staking. AAX preformed the following:
• Led surveying and survey planning.
• Conducted utility research.
• Created and led potholing plan and documentation.
• Executed surveying and staking of new utility locations.
Delta Waters Treatment Plant
The purpose of this project was to perform a geotechnical
investigation, evaluate the feasibility, provide planning,
and to develop a feasibility study and report for the Delta
Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) Groundwater Recharge
Basin Improvements Project. The geotechnical
investigations will establish the subsurface soil
characteristics and evaluate if they have the likelihood of
supporting a successful groundwater recharge project.
AAX led and conducted all the Land, Aerial and Utility
Survey for this project. Work included:
• Utility research to identify the utility owners.
• Land and aerial survey of 130 +/- acre property including visible permanent structures, roads, and utility appurtenances.
• Land Survey hard points collected to increase accuracy.
• City as built data was added to the survey map.
• High-Definition aerial imagery was captured and added to maps.
• All drawing and model data were delivered as GIS and Civil 3D files.
